painting, living, designing, expounding

Elora.

Elora.

Most of the time I don’t explicitly say what I think I am depicting in my paintings. When a painting is of a specific moment, or was inspired by an event, it can be fun to relate the anecdotal critique; but in contrast, when a painting comes from a purely mental image it’s interesting for me to listen to what it means to other people.

I’ve found that this painting is evocative of many things to different people, many of which are incompatible interpretations of the image in terms of setting a scene. Sometimes it’s nice to be surprised by others.
