VRLENS Monitors

VRLENS Monitors

The VRLENS Monitors are an offshoot of my research into laser-cut kaleidoscopic mirror boxes. Each VRLENS Monitor is fabricated from acrylic mirror stock and a discarded 17″ computer monitor. Each lens box has a unique aperture, and is designed as an analogue filter for viewing abstract video sources. As mirror images, the images created are “virtual”, and the act of viewing the infinite spaces through a small window¬†draws on the rich sideshow tradition of “peep shows” or “raree shows” common at the turn of the 20th century.

VRLENS Monitors was mounted in 2017 at THEMUSEUM in downtown Kitchener, and saw an encore mounting, with a new fourth monitor at the NIGHT\SHIFT Placehacking festival in November, 2017.
