Looking west towards Kitchener-Waterloo at the base of the horizon, we see Mt. Nemo’s stranded promontory divide the line of the Niagra escarpment. Below, in the lee of the ancient shoreline, the farmer’s fields masquerade as a man-made ocean, highlighting the fact that as with natural cycles, our intrusion into the environment replaces one world with another which, while it resembles nature, is as artificial as the city behind our backs. Larger image.
