Last year I had the opportunity to participate in London’s first IGNITE Talk.
Unfamiliar with the concept? IGNITE talks are a kind of theatre presentation sport where the presenters each give a 5 minute talk on a subject that they are passionate about. The hook is that their presentation is accompanied by a slidedeck of 20 slides that automatically advance every 15 seconds whether the presenter is ready or not.
My presentation above was entitled “Painting: Art not Houses” and is an exposition of the reasons why I paint using the process that I do. About halfway through, it delves into the physics of the interaction of light with a transparent boundary and the effect of scattering from various surfaces on colour. As I comment, I thought I was going to be talking about art but ended up talking about physics.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did presenting it.
